Kathy L. Samples
Kathy Samples, Director of Social Services, has worked at West Meade Place since 2016. She is originally from West Virginia and now resides in Franklin, Tennessee. She has over 19 years experience working and consulting for non-profits as well as proprietary skilled nursing facilities. She is a Licensed Social Worker as well as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Kathy graduated from Glenville State College in Glenville, WV with a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science. She has a certification in dementia care and a certification in Advance Care Planning. She has extensive experience working with residents and their families regarding many psychosocial aspects of skilled nursing rehabilitation and/or living and adjusting to our long term care community including discussing difficult issues related to advance care planning and the POST Form. Her POST Form training has been with the Tennessee End of Life Partnership (TELP) and also with The West Virginia Network of Ethics Committees (WVNEC) which is coordinated by the Center for Health Ethics and Law of the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University. Kathy’s primary focus is on customer service and resident and family satisfaction. She always brings a caring respect for the frail and elderly with an emphasis on the core values and mission of the social work profession. These core values, embraced by social workers throughout the profession’s history, are the foundation of social work’s unique purpose and perspective: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity and competence.
